NEW TO NEW YORK
A GROUP FOR NEW ARRIVALS

Moving to New York City and creating a new life is a huge challenge. One of the hardest parts is finding community and support. In this group for people in their 20’s and 30’s,  Susan will facilitate a range of activities and dialogue designed to help you make connections, find resources and create a healthy lifestyle. Participants will share their struggles, give and get support and feel more connected in a city that can make even the hardiest of individuals feel lonely.

Find Community

It takes a village, not just to raise a child, but to live well in NYC.  It’s easy to feel lonely isolated in what too often feels like a sea of random people.  We will explore ways to find connection and build supportive relationships.

Practice Self-Care

The unrelenting pace and often inhumane work demands of so many jobs in NY, can make creating a balanced life here an endless challenge.  All that pressure can make it hard to stay healthy and well.  We will discuss strategies for managing stress and making good choices in a city that offers no end of temptation and excess.

Explore & Enjoy

The artistic, cultural and entertainment offerings in New York are amazing and endless.  It’s easy to be overwhelmed amidst the options.  We will review some key resources that will help orient you to the possibilities and make smart choices about how to use your time, money and energy in getting the most out of the
Big Apple.

Susan has written an article (<== click for link) published on Medium with resources and suggestions for adjusting to life in NYC; it gives an idea of some of the subjects this group will consider.
